Someone recently asked me if I believed in love at first sight… after thinking about it for a few seconds I said “yes”. I believe in love at first “sight” but what does “sight” mean in this context? I said I believe in love at first sight because I see the word “sight” as meaning seeing the person for who they really are. Realistically you would have to be a little shallow… make that really shallow or really naive. Anyway so yes of course I believe you can fall in love with someone when you really see who they are and what they live for.

Now the other topic the previous discussion got me thinking about was one I heard in a play, if any of you have seen “The Shape of Things” by I think Neil Lebute. Anyway it brings up a very important and controversial subject. Is love subjective? Now when I was contemplating this one I thought about it and yes when you really think about it love is very subjective. If you believe you love someone then for all intensive purposes you do, after all the world is only what you perceive it to be right. And the next thing is that if you believe that someone loves you… even if they don’t (maybe they said they did or just show something that looks like it) then for all intensive purposes they do love you, that is in your mind not in theirs. Now if someone loves you in your mind and not theirs how can you be in love? Well reality is only in your head so if they love you in your head they love you in YOUR REALITY. So if you love someone and you believe they love you (regardless of whether they really do) then for all intensive purposes you are in love with that person (regardless of whether you are in love with them from their point of view) so in conclusion love is subjective… well at least it is for me because this belief that love is subjective is subjective in itself… well gee now that we bring it up everything is subjective… what is real in this world… is anything a constant or is everything in your head… if anyone can think of anything please respond to this…
