It’s not often that I get so emotionally moved by something I read, but when I do, it’s simply amazing. I just finished reading the script for “Our Town,” and it was one of the few pieces that did move me.

The writing, and the way the writing moves is beautiful. Every word has meaning bhind it, and the story is constantly building to a climax that the reader is blind to until the very end, at which everything falls into place, and the story’s true meaning is revealed.

I wish that I could be so talented as the writer, to be able to first see the world in that specia light, and then be so talented to be able to convert the feelings into words that everyone understands. It is too easy to just ramble on and fill space.

There are only a few authors whose writing I truly respect. The skill to write well is akin to writing classical music. Many classical composers are good, but there are only a few greats. Mozart and Bach, in my opinion. (Though, I am no expert.) Some people are just better at conveying meaning through their work than others.

Thornton Wilder is one of those people.
