excuses, once again…
You know, I would like to be able to make something up to excuse the fact that I haven’t blogged in over a week. And I have been busy, but I could have blogged long ago. It wasn’t until this morning that I even had anything to blog about, and now I have several things I want to mention.
First, before I neglect to mention, I am visiting cali finally. I will be in the Bay Area, SLO, LA and San Diego during the trip. If there are any awesome places/things I need to see or do then please stick them in a comment. We need things to do in San Diego and LA especially. Thanks in advance for the help.
Now on to more important news. I was listening to the BBC while taking my shower tonight and thinking about how interesting it is that all the world watches/listens to the BBC, yet here we have spawned our own set of news outlets for americans to get american news. We get lovely news about events that matter to us, and the rest is conveniently left out, so we aren’t too bored, and don’t feel that our time is being wasted. Anyway, I digress. The story they mentioned was one about this. I don’t want to rehash the story here, but what it boils down to is that it is evidently unclear to members of the public how to handle cases that involve law enforcement. I resent the feeling that I have gotten recently that as time has passed, especially post 9/11, that those who are supposed to be protecting the common good seem to be feeling a little high and mighty. I don’t know what kind of problems the LA police department has, seeing as I don’t live there, but this seems to be a very clear cut case that is being muddled by something, but I can’t possibly fathom what. These kind of events really concern me, probably more than they really deserve to. I am not privy to everything that happened in that courtroom. I don’t know what the jury members talked about. I don’t know how the evidence was presented. But from what I do know, its very clear that there has been quite a miscarriage of justice and I hope that it is quickly remedied.
Another news story that caught my attention, although I don’t think it is necessarily as ridiculous as the first is the story about futures trading predicting future terrorist attacks. After hearing the rationale behind it, it doesn’t sound as far-fetched or foolish as it does at first glance, turning people’s deaths into a game of five-card stud. What I do wonder though, is if this is any indication of the crap we have for intelligence now. Is it so bad that we need to get a bunch of people to guess when events will happen? Presumably only time will tell.

Note: Its late and I didn’t proof this. I apologize for any egregious spelling or grammar errors.
