Since I’ve gotten back from California, I’ve been feeling and acting a little strange. I really enjoyed my visit and have felt rather unmotivated since arriving back here. I’ve gotten past the post-arrival unproductive period and now am just stuck in post-trip doldrums.
Anyway, yesterday I was over at my neighbors house trying to figure out why their wireless network wasn’t working properly and I took a moment and sat on the couch while waiting for the computer to recover itself and picked up a book on the table next to the couch. It was a For Better or For Worse comic book about turning 50. I read through the last portion of it and was rather intrigued by what the author suggested in the comic. It was about two guys who were working together and were just about to gradutate from college (or grad school, I can’t remember which) and had no idea what they were going to do with their lives. Then they found out they were up for a publishing award and had the opportunity to travel to Ireland.
Maybe I read into it way to much, but it made me realize, whatever is coming in life, we can’t always anticipate and prepare for it. Take advantage of every opportunity that comes your way and never look back. Maybe all that is familiar and trite but I find I must remind myself constantly. Nothing great in this world occurs as a result of second-guessing and avoiding new things.
That really was not as profound as I wanted. Oh well.

I agree completely, I also remind myself of that. And For Better or for Worse is a brilliant comic, I’m definitely a fan.

It actually was working, but they thought it wasn’t because the client computer was screwy. It kept trying to connect to our wireless network. So much for having an open network.
