people have something to say and others find what they say valuable

bq. The buzz on weblogs is becoming unbearable. Not because I think they don’t merit the attention — they do. But the mainstream discussion on the subject misses the point. Nearly everything you read says either that blogs are ill-defined harbingers of a long-foretold Internet media revolution or that they’re irrelevant, the ephemeral scribble of teenage girls.

bq. Folks have forgotten that blogs work because people have something to say and others find what they say valuable.

Well then… I understand how mindless blogs are annoying… but if these people who have blogs that are ignorant cease in doing so, but make WEBSITES instead,… what would be the difference? They’d still have a webpage set up to showcase their utter stupidity and boring lives… …. Or are you just ranting that all people who discuss, “there, like, oh my god,” day are missing the point of “blogging” and should stop…. nevermind

Warning: I am exhausted and this comment may not be coherent.

I think people should be able to say whatever they want. Freedom of speech, darnit.

Although my post is similar to Chioke’s mine is addressing something slightly different, in that it’s talking about the media’s view on blogging vs. our personal views. The article I linked to (at least, the part of it that i’m interested in) talked about the fact that too often the media focuses on the negative when writing about the blogging phenomenon. I am not saying that Rystic is the best blog ever. It’s not. Honestly, it could be much better if I had more time. I am always very impressed when I see someone like Joi Ito, who manages to update all the time even when he has a million things going on in his real life.

Point taken– and yeah, the media does put a negative spin on blogs… and everything else…
