And now, I can say that I am 18 as well. I’ve been 18 for about 6 hours now. I would have posted exactly when I turned 18, but I was at a live performance of A Prairie Home Companion at Marymoor Park in Redmond. And then after it was over, it took me forever to get out of the parking lot of the park, and then I got home but we had to go get cake, so we got a cake, and then we…well, point being, I haven’t gotten around to it until now.

I got all the indicators that I am 18 in the mail today. I got my voter registration card, my SAE membership change letter and my selective service registration confirmation. Now all I need is a scratch ticket, porn and cigarettes before I will have exploited all my new uh…capabilities. Of course, I don’t smoke, and cigarettes are so bloody expensive, that I don’t think I would actually waste the money, even as a symbolic act. I’d rather spend my money on a box of oreos and a mega size bag of potato chips. I get all of the negative health effects of smoking without the addiction. Boy, I am excited to be 18.

On an unrelated note, don’t you just hate it when you go to a public bathroom…these are only in public bathrooms…and they have those push button faucets that turn on for some predetermined amount of time. So you go to wash your hands, and push the button and it stays on for, if you’re lucky, a second. Long enough for you to put your hands where the water no longer is, so you look like a fool with your hands under a tap that’s not on. So then you resort to strange methods like one hand at a time, while holding the button down. I knew there was a reason touchless faucets were invented.

Anyway, so happy birthday to me, and unlike demanding little Jesse here, I ask for nothing but your readership. And if that’s too much, well, I suggest dialing 0 to vent at an operator now.
